What Goes Around, Comes Around

If you search my blog for Elaine Emiliani (top left photo), you can read about my interaction with her regarding the plans to designate I-78 as a scenic by-way. Bottom line, Elaine doesn't play nice and if you disagree with her or ask questions that make her defend her position, like I did, she gets upset and calls you rude, inconsiderate and antagonistic (from my experience).

Simple meeting in Greenwich Township turns into curses, shouts for resignations

Elaine Emiliani and Joseph Gurneak argued tonight during a Greenwich Township Committee meeting.

At least one friendship was ended in a special meeting of the Greenwich Township committee tonight, a meeting that should have been a simple matter of two policy votes but ended with screaming, shouting and calls from individual committee members for the resignation of others.

Committeeman Joseph Gurneak said he lamented his loss of camaraderie with Deputy Mayor Elaine Emiliani "over nothing," but blew up as Emiliani attempted to shout down Mayor Tanya Segal during a discussion about hiring a temporary police officer.

"I'm sick and tired of your attitude for the last two months!" Gurneak yelled, calling her "vindictive" and twice a "pathetic bitch."

Gurneak later apologized for his outburst, but the apology was rejected by Emiliani.

A resident said it would be "Christian" of her to accept, but Emiliani said, "This is not the case."

Emiliani did not sit in her chair next to the mayor, instead choosing to spend the meeting standing next to Committeeman Jim Adams. Following Gurneak's apology, Adams said the other committeeman should "seek anger management or resign."

"You're kidding me," said Segal, adding that Emiliani and Adams should resign.

"Both of you are trying to undermine the operations of the township committee," she said.

Adams had earlier accused the mayor of only setting up the special meeting because there were not enough votes to approve the two motions at the committee's meeting last Thursday, when Gurneak was absent.

The committee tonight approved a motion to advertise for a temporary police officer who will replace a full-time officer currently on disability through October. The position will be advertised with a $22.91 hourly rate and no benefits.

A second motion established the township committee will pay the state-mandated 1.5 percent of salary to health insurance costs, as well as 5 percent of the premium cost.

Emiliani and Adams voted against both measures, after their proposed alternatives were rejected.

**Committeeman Gurneak has been "sick and tired of her attitude for the last two months"...that's nothing! I've been "sick and tired of it" since September of 2008. Having met Mr. Gurneak on a few occasions, you get a sense that it would take a lot for him to use that type of language at a public meeting. You have to give it to him, though, he realized he made a mistake and offered an apology. Elaine being typical Elaine, refused to accept it. I wonder if she offered Mayor Segal an apology for shouting her down. If that's not rude, inconsiderate and antagonistic, I don't know what is.**
